Boston area employer and international technology and research information provider sponsors business awards

EBSCO sponsors vetrepreneurship training at ipswich vfw post 1093

VFW Post 1093 and VetToCEO.org announced today that EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) will be the lead sponsor for the upcoming Vetrepreneurship Training Program which will begin on 11 January in Ipswich. EBSCO’s sponsorship will fund the start-up cash awards which will be awarded to the top three business plans.

EBSCO, based in Ipswich, provides quality research content, powerful search technologies and intuitive delivery platforms to institutions around the world. EBSCO is a division of EBSCO Industries, Inc. and is well- known in on the North Shore as an anchor member of the community and as a rapidly growing employer that has created its own MBTA “reverse commute” of tech workers who live in Boston and commute to the North Shore.

EBSCO Industries President and CEO Tim Collins commented, “EBSCO Information Services is an entrepreneurial company at heart. It started with a handful of employees and is now a global organization with more than 3,500 employees in more than 30 countries. One of the keys to our growth has been our ability to attract top talent from the greater Boston area and nationally. We offer employees a creative environment in which to thrive so it is a great fit for us to support an Ipswich initiative and the more than 45,000 veterans on the North Shore. This vetrepreneurship training program is in keeping with the spirit of entrepreneurship on which the company was founded and which continues to drive our success.”

“I’m delighted that EBSCO has made such a commitment to support our efforts” noted Ed Marsh, Commander of Post 1093 which is collaborating with VetToCEO to deliver this training. “This sponsorship is especially important because it will allow us to offer amazing quick start grants to the top three business plans from our spring session. Vetrepreneurs have the skills, we’re providing the business training, and through the EBSCO awards we’ll also now provide critical seed money to help these vetrepreneurs launch businesses that will create jobs in the community.”

Taught by veteran business leaders and designed specifically for veterans, VetToCEO’s program includes a series of seven modules including sales and marketing, accounting, finance, and operations.  It is intended to help prepare military veterans to evaluate various entrepreneurship models.  Start up, franchise and purchase of an existing business are all explored, and by the conclusion of the course participants will create fundable business plans.

While seats are still available, registration in the program is limited to 40 participants to ensure a dynamic, interactive experience for everyone.  Early registration has exceeded expectations and the group is rapidly filling, including veterans from every service and several female veterans.

Veterans who live in Massachusetts north of Boston and in Southern NH can learn more at http://www.vettoceo.org/veteran-entrepreneurship-training-in-person-at-ipswich-ma-vfw-post-1093 and register for a limited number of positions in the VetToCEO program at http://www.vettoceo.org/registration-for-veterans-entrepreneurship-training-at-ipswich-ma-vfw-post-1093. The class will be held weekly at Ipswich VFW Post 1093, 110 County Road on Wednesday evenings from 7-9:30pm, from January 11th through March 8th, 2017. (March 1st will be open for individual preparation.)

Participants will pitch their plans to a panel of judges on March 8th, competing for cash prizes to support their business launch. Dinner will be provided at each session and limited childcare may be available through the collaboration of VFW Post 1093 and the Ipswich Family YMCA under the North Shore Veterans Collaborative.
